Johnson has enjoyed a quality two seasons at Forest. He scored 19 goals in 2021/22 as the Reds won promotion and last season he scored eight times in the Premier League.

Forest would have loved to have kept him around for a little bit longer. Ultimately, however, selling Johnson allowed the club to bring in seven players on transfer deadline day.

Bale is the man who has left the void for Wales that Johnson will now be tasked with filling. He thinks it’s a good move for Johnson and has now backed the player who has left Forest for big things.

He told Football Daily: “Yes, he’s doing well and I think the more he plays now in the top flight the better he’ll get and the sky’s the limit. As long as he’s playing football and improving and doing well, it’s good for Wales and it’s good for Tottenham as well.

Bale was also asked if he was happy that he’d signed for Tottenham, to which he responded: “For sure, better than Arsenal!”

Bale thinks Johnson could thrive following Forest departure

There is lots more media interest in Johnson now he’s left Forest. The player has been quality for years and for some reason there wasn’t such an interest in him when he was at the City Ground.

Still, the Reds are now in a better place arguably. They have a squad brimming with quality and there is some evidence that certain players can step up and fill the void vacated by Johnson.

Forest have seen some unbelievable performances from Johnson over the last couple of years. Now, they will watch with intrigue to see how he performs at a club the size of Tottenham.
