Very few players captured the imagination quite like Lewis McGugan did at Nottingham Forest. The man who starred in midfield as Billy Davies led the team to back-to-back play-off campaigns, was poetry in motion in full flight.
McGugan came through the youth ranks at Forest. After making his debut he became a swashbuckling midfielder who created his very own highlight reel with a series of amazing goals.

These days McGugan is part of the management team with Long Eaton United. He has taken some time out today, however, to post two words on a Tweet by the club to reminisce about a memory.
On this day in 2010, McGugan stole the show during a 2-1 win over Preston at Deepdale. The Reds trailed 1-0 at the break but after half-time, the midfielder took the game by the scruff of the neck.
He scored two quality goals, with one coming late in the day to give Forest all three points. It proved a useful win for the Reds who would go on and secure a play-off place during that campaign.

What would the midfielder be worth in this day and age? The player was mesmerising at times and McGugan regularly had the back from the loyal Forest fan base.
During the season where this footage is taken from, McGugan scored 13 goals and claimed 16 assists in the Championship and he’d be worth a fortune now.
Clearly, the player enjoyed his time at Forest as a homegrown player. He retweeted Forest’s post earlier today, with the caption: “Good times” posted on it.
McGugan left Forest to sign for Watford and from there his career hit the skids a little bit. He will always be fondly remembered at Forest though and he can often be found at Forest matches these days.
