Nottingham Forest have emerged as a potential option for Manchester United star Jadon Sancho. The player is in the midst of a dispute with Erik ten Hag and his future seems a little bleak.
Now, according to the Manchester Evening News, Sancho could end up at Forest in January. It seems a long shot at this stage but that’s the claim that is being made.
This doesn’t seem real. In just over two years, Forest have gone from missing out on Josh Maja and settling for Xande Silva to breaking the club transfer record twice and now being linked with Sancho.
Signing the United winger would make a bit of sense. Steve Cooper made Sancho integral when the England under-17s he managed went to India and won the World Cup.
United are almost certainly going to make a significant loss on Sancho. He cost the club £73 million in 2021 but things simply haven’t worked out for the England player.
MORE FOREST STORIES
The 23-year-old has endured a rotten time at Old Trafford and Sancho has stagnated at Old Trafford. He’s scored just 12 goals in 82 appearances and Ten Hag has publicly slammed his attitude to training recently.
Forest in the mix for Sancho
This would be something of a dream but it does look a little unlikely. Not least because Sancho is currently earning a significant £350,000-a-week wage packet with United.
Sancho has been called ‘outstanding’ by Ten Hag before. These days, however, the relationship looks strained beyond repair and the player’s days look numbered.
Landing Sancho would be something of a pipedream for Forest. It would be an amazing signing for the club but the finances would likely make it pretty hard to complete.
