New Nottingham Forest signing Callum Hudson-Odoi has been explaining what Steve Cooper has been saying to him.
The winger signed from Chelsea on transfer deadline day and he knows the Forest head coach extremely well.
Cooper was in charge of the England under-17 manager when the Young Lions won the World Cup in 2017.
Hudson-Odoi was an important part of that team and when the opportunity arose to sign for Forest, it was one that the player wanted to take.
After signing for the Reds, the 22-year-old has explained what Cooper has always and continues to say to him.
Hudson-Odoi told The Telegraph: “Don’t be boring! He’s been saying it to me for as long as I can remember. ‘Take risks, don’t let anything hold you back and be yourself. Create problems every time you’re on the ball.’
“You want to have that freedom to do your stuff, whether it’s scoring or creating goals for the team. That’s what I want, to excite the crowd.”
Hudson-Odoi could thrive under Cooper at Forest
It’s fair to say that this looks like a match made in heaven. If Hudson-Odoi can stay fit and play regularly, he could star under Cooper.
One of the best attributes that Forest currently have as a club is Cooper. He has taken the City Ground by storm and he’s a quality head coach.
Hudson-Odoi now has a chance of reprieve. He has the chance to rediscover himself at Forest and he will be keen to get going.
At 22, there is still bags of unearthed potential with Hudson-Odoi and hopefully, Cooper can get the best out of him at Forest.
