BBC Sport pundit Michael Brown has praised Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. The Reds were beaten thanks to early goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.
Forest fought valiantly against the team that won the treble last season. The current Champions of Europe had Rodri sent off just after half-time and that perhaps gave Forest the impetus.

In Gibbs-White they have a player who could go all the way to the top. This season, he hasn’t been quite as free-flowing but once he settles into the season he will naturally start to shine again.
Brown was watching yesterday’s game for BBC Sport. He feels that Gibbs-White is the main man for Forest and he believes that he’s the man who can sparkle this season.
He said: “That’s one player who makes Forest tick for me, Morgan Gibbs-White, we haven’t really seen him get into some good positions. He gets away there, his touch was a little bit big for him as he gets caught out.”

Once again yesterday, things didn’t quite come off for Gibbs-White. At times, his touch deserted him a little bit and he’s still striving to rediscover his top form from last season.
That might take some time, however. The 23-year-old didn’t have a huge pre-season thanks to his exploits with the England under-21s during the summer months.

Forest will give Gibbs-White time, however. Steve Cooper is a huge fan of the player and naturally, he will give him plenty of opportunities to get up to full speed.
The Reds signed a glut of new players in the summer. None of those will impact Gibbs-White, however, and he remains one of the team’s most important players.
