Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has delivered an update on Nuno Tavares. The man on loan from Arsenal went off injured as the Reds lost 2-0 to Manchester City yesterday.

The left-sided wing-back was starting his first game for the Reds. Tavares left the field holding his groin, however, and now he might face a spell on the sidelines.

At the moment, no news has to be considered good news. The Reds have other options who can play at left-back but they will want to ensure that they have Tavares available.

After his withdrawal at the Etihad Stadium, Cooper was asked about the 23-year-old who is on loan from Arsenal. Right now, he really doesn’t have anything conclusive about the player.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “I don’t know how he is. I think he’s come off with a bit of a groin problem. We’ll have to have a look at him. That’s what it seemed like, but I don’t know.”

Forest head coach Cooper will hope for good news on Tavares

This would be a blow to lose the youngster for a prolonged period of time. It wouldn’t be ideal at all and hopefully, there will be some good news ahead of next weekend.

Tavares was brilliant for Marseille last season. He scored six goals from his position as a left-sided wing-back and Forest will hope he can have similar success with them.

The talented player did switch off in the early stages of yesterday’s game. He didn’t have a clue where Kyle Walker was behind him and he teed up Phil Foden for the opener.

Tavares is a good player though and Forest will hope that this injury doesn’t keep him sidelined for too long.
