Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for Reggie Cannon in August 2021 and he’s now signed for QPR. The player has penned a deal with the West Londoners, joining on a free transfer.
The club confirmed the news on their official website this morning. He signs for QPR having left Boavista in June and he will play alongside Reds promotion winners Steve Cook and Jack Colback.

Cannon is a USA international and typically plays as a right-back. Gareth Ainsworth has been looking to add to his QPR squad following a somewhat difficult start to 2023/24.
QPR sign Cannon after Forest interest
The Reds wanted to sign the defender prior to the 2021/22 campaign when Chris Hughton was in charge. That summer proved a difficult one for Forest who had missed on the play-offs in heartbreaking circumstances the year previous.
The Reds found it tricky to sign players during that particular summer. They were forced into some signings that didn’t really work out and ultimately, Cannon proved out of reach for Forest.
Instead, the player signed for Boavista. He’s settled quite well in European football and he made 89 appearances for the Portuguese outfit before leaving in the summer.
Gregg Berhalter is a huge fan of Cannon. He’s previously called him ‘strong and dynamic’ and the player has made 28 appearances for the national outfit during his career.
Forest went for other options after 2021 setback
Ultimately, Forest ended up signing Djed Spence. The rest, as they say, is history as far as that one is concerned with the defender becoming one of the most loved loan stars ever.
Forest-linked Cannon would have been an intriguing signing though. Players coming from the United States are always interesting given that it’s a country that does produce some really talented players.

At 25-years-old, the player could still make an impact in England and the move to QPR looks like a good one. Ainsworth is a decent manager and this signing looks a good one by him.
Cook and Colback both moved to QPR in the summer and the duo have started pretty well. As experienced players, they might soon be taking Cannon under their wing as he looks to show Forest what they were missing three years ago.
