Report: £15m player is the highest-paid player in Forest’s squad, he’s on £90k-a-week

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has been announced as the Reds’ highest-paid player.

The Athletic released an article today, with every Premier League club and the player who earns the most money on a weekly basis.

In the segment about Forest, written by journalist Paul Taylor, confirmed that the 31-year-old striker earns a reported £90,000-a-week.

New signings Ibrahim Sangare, Nicolas Dominguez and Divock Origi are all said to earn a figure in a similar ballpark, with the latter on around £90,000-£100,000-a-week at AC Milan.

However, it remains unknown how much of Origi’s salary the Reds are covering.

Chris Wood named Nottingham Forest’s top earner

Steve Cooper’s side have made some fantastic signings over the last year since their return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.

Unfortunately, the signing of Wood from Newcastle United looks to have been a disappointing deal.

The New Zealand forward originally joined the Reds on loan with an obligation to buy, when Wood played a certain amount of games for the club.

His deal was made permanent this summer, for £15 million on a one-year deal with the striker receiving £90,000-a-week.

With wages included, the club will have spent nearly £20 million on the 31-year-old, who could potentially only be at the City Ground for one season, if the Reds decide not to offer him a new deal.

He has provided key goals for the club against Manchester City and Sheffield United, but all things considered, the deal to sign the striker has been a disappointment.
