David Johnson believes that the time was right for Brennan Johnson to leave Nottingham Forest. He’s also praised the club for the way in which they’ve recruited in the aftermath.
The Reds allowed the forward to leave the City Ground on transfer deadline day. He moved to Tottenham for £47.5 million and Forest added seven players before the deadline.

Johnson has made two appearances for Tottenham since his departure. The challenge for Forest now is to ensure they don’t suffer after his exit and it does look as though they’ve recruited well.
Johnson raves about Forest transfer business
The man who served Forest as a player with distinction has been happy with the way in which the Reds have recruited. Clearly, he’s buzzing for his son but ultimately, he has Forest in his heart.
He believes that there is now quality all over the park at the City Ground and Johnson is backing the Reds to kick on.
Johnson told Team Talk: “I think it was the right time. It was the right time for him and the right time for the club and I think that’s the reason why people have wished him all the best.
“The club have moved on now and they’ve recruited very well this year, they’ve got some really quality players in and they’ve got a bit of a free hit to really kick on this year.
“They’ve got some real quality, strength in depth and all over the pitch and they’ve now got two or three players in every position. I think the manager will be looking for a really good season and a strong season.”
Johnson is right, Forest have to kick on
There is no excuse now for Forest not to kick on this season. The teams at the bottom look worse than last season. As a result, after a pretty strong start, Cooper knows expectations have increased.

The Reds have got seven points from their opening six games and the foundations have been set. Now, the head coach should be excited about the future.
Cooper has the squad that he’s so desperately craved since he arrived. Johnson has seen a lot of the Reds in recent years and he’s right what he says about the recruitment this summer.
