Former Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley has posted a wordless reaction after one-time loanee James Garner scored his first goal for Everton last night.
The 22-year-old who helped the Reds achieve promotion in 2022, scored his first goal for the Toffees against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.
Garner has been an important player for Sean Dyche’s side so far this season, despite playing in an unnatural right midfield position.
The former Manchester United man has already spoken about his desire to play in central midfield but faces tough competition from Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Joe Lolley on James Garner’s first Everton goal
After the game, Garner took to Instagram to speak of his delight in scoring his first goal for the Toffees, with fellow former Red Lolley commenting on the post.
Instead of praising the midfielder with words, the 31-year-old used the applause emoji to praise Garner for opening his account for the club.

Garner enjoyed two separate spells at Forest. Chris Hughton signed him in January 2021 and helped the club maintain their status as a Championship club.
Then, the former Forest boss managed to sign him again. This time he only made three appearances under Hughton before Steve Cooper came in and replaced him, winning promotion to the Premier League.
The Reds tried to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis upon promotion, but no deal was agreed with Manchester United, with Garner subsequently joining the Toffees.
Despite the midfielder not plying his trade at the City Ground, it is great to see him reach the levels all Forest fans know he is capable of.
