Nottingham Forest handed a debut to central defender Murillo as they drew 1-1 with Brentford. The Brazilian was making his first appearance in English football since signing from Santos.

The Reds added the defender to the ranks during the summer transfer window. It was anticipated that he’d perhaps be one for the future but Steve Cooper decided to start him against Brentford.

Murillo already looks like being a hit with the Forest fans. Some statistics from Who Scored showcase that he played particularly well during the game and it’s exciting to see what else is to come.

Murillo stars on Nottingham Forest debut

After a nervy first few touches, the Reds starlet settled into the game. In the second half, it was a backs-to-the-wall job and Murillo will be better for the experience.

The defender made no fewer than 11 clearances during his 90 minutes on the pitch. He also won one tackle, one interception and made one very good block.

Furthermore, he showcased that he’s not afraid to play out from the back. He completed 83.3% of his 48 attempted passes and he grew braver as the game went on.

More to come from Murillo and he looks exciting

This is just the start for the player who has just signed for Forest. It’s never easy coming from South America and the Reds will have to monitor the defender accordingly.

Murillo looks like a physical player and he certainly didn’t look fazed coming up against established Premier League players. The challenge for him will be consistency.

The defender had a very strong partner in Willy Boly. He will hope to keep his place in the team for next week’s trip to Crystal Palace and hopefully, he can get even better with more appearances.
