Paul Taylor is a respected journalist among the Nottingham Forest fan base and he’s raved about Murillo. He’s even claimed that he did something on Sunday that reminded him of Wes Morgan.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Brentford, with Nicolas Dominguez earning a share of the spoils. An intriguing decision was announced prior to kick-off, with Murillo earning his first Forest start.

A Brazilian central defender, it was anticipated he’d be signed as one for the future. Instead, Steve Cooper decided to unleash him against the Bees at the City Ground.

Taylor raved about Forest starlet Murillo

The Tweet from The Athletic correspondent came during the second half. It was when Murillo decided to try and take the game by the scruff of the neck all by himself.

It proved a decent debut for the talented player. Murillo was signed by Forest in the summer from Corinthians where he had risen through the youth ranks in Brazil.

Taylor tweeted: “Murilo just won over a few more #NFFC fans with a lovely bit of play down the left. Strength, composure, a driving run and a cheeky pass to finish it off with. Like a young Wes Morgan, but with some added Brazilian flair.”

Murillo can really start to fly in England

This was a decent debut for the Brazilian defender. He didn’t seem overawed by the occasion and after shaking off some early nerves, he performed very well.

Murillo was an intriguing signing for Forest. He comes with a good reputation in South America and the Reds will feel like they’ve got themselves a bargain this summer.

This was a very steady start to life at Forest for Murillo. Now, it will be fascinating to see whether he keeps his place in the team when the Reds go to Crystal Palace this weekend.
