Diogo Goncalves isn’t a player that will live long in the memory of Nottingham Forest supporters. Last night, however, he was praised by the Danish media for his performance for FC Copenhagen against Bayern Munich.
Goncalves was part of the team for the Champions League clash as the Bavarian giants were made to work for their win. FC Copenhagen took the lead in the 55th minute but still fell to a 2-1 defeat.

Goncalves moved to the Danish giants in January. He’s been in fine form since arriving at the club and last night he was given a glowing reference for his latest showing.
One-time Forest player Goncalves in fine form
Copenhagen are giving a decent account of themselves in the Champions League this season. Goncalves scored as they drew 2-2 in their first group game against Galatasaray and they gave a good account last night too.
Goncalves was praised by the local media for his showing. Bold called him ‘excellent’, whilst B.T. said: “Oh my gosh. The Portuguese was here, there and everywhere, often bursting with his passing. Was one of the most important elements in FCK’s attack, and also started the 1-0 attack with a cutting pass. He hardly goes home alone from Oktoberfest!”
Goncalves has scored seven goals and claimed five assists this season. He’s now starting to shine after his Forest debacle and it’s great to see him enjoying his football.
Forest move came too early for talented forward
Things just didn’t work out for the Portuguese performer at the City Ground. Goncalves was signed by Aitor Karanka but ultimately, he just proved too raw for the Championship.
The versatile forward has kicked on since leaving Forest, however. He’s also seen his position tweaked and he’s been playing as a central midfielder for Copenhagen.

At Forest, Goncalves only managed 10 appearances and he failed to register a goal contribution. He was still very raw as a player and the fact he had very little experience was telling.
Now, he’s showcasing how much quality he possesses. Goncalves is now 26-years-old and he’s showing Forest exactly what he’s capable of doing in the game.
