Nottingham Forest academy graduate Patrick Bamford was involved in a controversial red card decision for Leeds United against QPR last night.
The 30-year-old forward attempted to dribble the ball around ‘keeper Asmir Begovic who came rushing out of his penalty area.
Bamford threw himself to the floor, despite no contact being made by the Bosnian shot-stopper.
The officials failed to see Bamford’s dive, resulting in a straight red card for Begovic, adding to QPR’s pain in the 1-0 defeat at Elland Road.

Bamford comes under fire for his dive
It is safe to say, R’s boss Gareth Ainsworth wasn’t best pleased with the decision that saw his goalkeeper receive his marching orders.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game, Ainsworth gave his honest opinion on the incident.
“For the life of me, I can’t see why Asmir [Begovic] has been sent off for it.
“There is no contact between him or [Patrick] Bamford and I don’t want to complain about referees at the minute but it’s safe to say we haven’t had the rub of the green.”

Despite the red card, Ainsworth admitted that he would look to appeal the decision to get the suspension rescinded.
“I would kick myself if I didn’t have a look at it and see if I can appeal it because he hasn’t touched the guy.
“As far as I remember if you don’t make contact with anyone it can’t be a card or a foul. But at the moment it is tough to take and I certainly feel aggrieved about the decision.”
