Morgan Gibbs-White has admitted that the added competition to the squad this summer has brought an added spark to the Nottingham Forest dressing room.
Steve Cooper’s side brought in 13 new faces once again this summer, aiming to build on the 16th-place finish achieved last season.
The Reds have made a solid start to the season, picking nine points from the first eight games – five more points than this stage last season.
23-year-old Gibbs-White hasn’t had the greatest of starts compared to his usual high standards but, acknowledged that the quality of new additions has brought a higher level of intensity to the club.

Gibbs-White on the new additions bringing a spark to the club
Speaking to Jamie Redknapp after the game, the midfielder spoke about the environment at the club after another frantic window.
“In the summer we had a lot of new players come in, but this time it was of a lot more higher quality players.
“That builds competition within the group, which I think is so important day in and day out.
“The fact you have competition in training means you don’t know whether you’re starting at the weekend so you’re putting in 150% in every session.
“I think that has brought a spark into the group and like I’ve said before, when it clicks for us we can be very good.”

A good start, but can always be better
A phrase used by Cooper in interviews often this season is a good start but it can always get better.
The Reds have picked up great wins against Chelsea and Sheffield United, but fine margins could’ve seen Cooper’s side beat Manchester United and Burnley after very good starts to the game.
It is only going to get better with time, with the new additions slowly but surely proving to add their qualities to this Forest side.
