Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala has praised the fans who travelled down to Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace.

Forest headed down to Selhurst Park on Saturday evening, seeking another away win in the capital.

Steve Cooper’s men beat Chelsea away from home earlier this season but missed out on a similar result this weekend.

Forest were the better side against Palace, firing 16 shots on Sam Johnstone’s goal but with no success.

Harry Toffolo forced a save from Johnstone, Morgan Gibbs-White hit the post, Murillo forced two saves after a sensational run forward and Nicolas Dominguez was denied with a late curling strike.

It just wasn’t to be for Forest, but the performance will leave fans very encouraged about the season ahead.

Orel Mangala praises Nottingham Forest supporters

The travelling Forest supporters will have enjoyed the display, either as they travelled back to the Nottingham area or enjoyed a weekend in London.

Midfielder Orel Mangala paid tribute to the travelling Forest fans after the full-time whistle in South London.

Mangala took to Twitter to note that he heard the ‘loud and proud’ Forest fans all night long against Palace.

The Belgian ace added that the Forest fans provided ‘top support as always’ as Cooper and co took a point back to the City Ground.

Mangala didn’t offer an update on his injury situation though having come off with a late injury against Palace, with Cheikhou Kouyate replacing him.

Mangala stats v Crystal Palace

Mangala played well in a strong Forest display on Saturday as he continues in midfield ahead of the likes of Kouyate, Ryan Yates and Andrey Santos.

The Belgium international – now set to join up with his country on international duty – recorded one key pass and two tackles against Palace.

Manga added an interception and one clearance, contributing in an effective midfield display as Forest claimed a 0-0 draw.

Competition is fierce in that Forest engine room right now but Mangala is showing why he deserves a spot in Cooper’s side.
