Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner has been praised for his performance for the USA last night against Germany. The United States went down 3-1 but delivered a battling performance.
The stopper signed for the Reds during the summer transfer window. Turner cost Forest just £7 million from Arsenal and he’s been ever-present between the posts this season.

Turner will be keen to keep the gloves at Forest for the foreseeable. He made just seven appearances for the Gunners last season and he’s now clearly thriving on the back of regular football.
Forest star Turner gets praise for international showing
The 29-year-old was a busy man last night. He couldn’t prevent Germany from claiming a victory in the friendly clash but he did make the score look more respectable.
CBS Sports gave Turner an 8/10 for his performance. It was a score that was richly deserved and they wrote: “Forced into being aggressive to protect the box, Turner was one of the best performers for the USMNT which is a bad thing in a loss. His distribution sprung a few attacks but he was let down by players in front of him.”
Turner will now hope to keep his place in the team. THe USA face off against Ghana on Wednesday before the goalkeeper returns to Forest ahead of Saturday’s game against Luton.
Turner starring with regular action
It’s amazing what a bit of game time can do for a player’s confidence, not least a goalkeeper. Naturally, Turner looks far more composed these days and that isn’t really a surprise.

The player has arrived at Forest at a time when they didn’t really have a senior goalkeeper and grasped his opportunity. He isn’t looking back and now he’s considered the Forest number one.
Turner is still getting to grips with some things in the Premier League. However, there is a lot to like about the player and hopefully, he can continue producing some top class performances.
