An intriguing battle took place on the Nottingham Forest training pitch recently with Morgan Gibbs-White facing Nicolas Dominguez in a game of one-on-one.

The Reds have been getting put through their paces ahead of the home game with Luton Town at the City Ground this weekend.

Neither player has been called up for their country on this occasion. Gibbs-White is awaiting his first senior call-up; whilst Dominguez was ignored by Argentina.

The fact that they weren’t called up has allowed Steve Cooper the chance to get to work with some of his better players.

Both are mightily important to the fortunes of Forest and a fun battle took place on the training ground recently.

Gibbs-White produces moment of magic in Forest training

The videos that the club keep posting on YouTube are decent content. It’s nice to see what the players are put through in training and spirits look high.

This past week, the club posted some one-on-one clashes that took place and Gibbs-White came up against summer signing Dominguez.

Gibbs-White wasn’t to be denied by the combative nature of the Argentine. One clip showed the player producing a moment of magic to leave his opponent wondering where the ball had gone.

Gibbs-White and Dominguez both integral to the season’s fortunes

They might have come against each other in training but both players are going to be important this season in tandem.

Dominguez is already off the mark at Forest and he will want to show he can score more goals. The same goes for Gibbs-White, with the 23-year-old working to get his first of the campaign.

Both players are going to be hugely important. Last season a lot relied on Gibbs-White but with better players now around him, he should be able to relax and just play his normal game.

The challenge for Steve Cooper is to find a winning formula. Striving for that is likely to include both Dominguez and Gibbs-White being extremely important.
