Nottingham Forest talent Brandon Aguilera was a surprise name in the squad on Saturday as the Reds drew with Luton. He didn’t get on the pitch but is likely to be back in action for the B-Team tomorrow night.

Aguilera impressed during pre-season when Steve Cooper handed him the chance to train with the senior squad. A slow to the transfer window saw the Costa Rican promoted and he showcased his talent to the manager.

Moussa Niakhate praised the youngster in pre-season. He called him a ‘baller’ after a training competition among the squad and the club decided not to loan him out during the transfer window.

Aguilera now set for B-Team outing

It’s a shame that Forest didn’t take more of their chances against Luton on Saturday. If they had claimed a comprehensive victory perhaps it would have been the ideal time to give Aguilera his Premier League debut.

Instead, the Reds relinquished their two-goal lead and allowed Luton to claim another point in their own quest against relegation. As a result, Aguilera stayed on the bench and wasn’t needed on the pitch.

Tomorrow night, Forest take on Nice in the Premier League International Cup. Aguilera has now dropped a hint on Twitter that he’s going to play as Forest look for a first win in the competition.

Aguilera could get Forest bow this season

It looks as though the 20-year-old is rated very highly by Forest and a chance in the Premier League could be forthcoming this season. The Reds player is extremely talented and Steve Cooper isn’t afraid to utilise younger players.

Aguilera went away with the Costa Rica under-23 team during the recent international break. He was impressive as they defeated Colombia and actually captained the team too.

The youngster must grasp every opportunity that comes his way this season. Aguilera can be a real star and the fact that Forest haven’t loaned him out suggests that he’s a realistic option in reserve this season.
