Nottingham Forest forward Gustavo Scarpa is now really struggling out on loan

Gustavo Scarpa left Nottingham Forest on loan in the summer and it would appear that he’s now struggling. The player joined Olympiacos on a season-long loan deal but has failed to hold down a place in the team just yet.

Scarpa joined Forest in the January transfer window after signing a pre-contract. He didn’t cost the club a transfer fee and arrived having just won the Golden Ball during a title-winning campaign for Palmeiras.

The versatile forward didn’t really convince Steve Cooper in England though. He made just 10 appearances for Forest and failed to register a goal contribution during his time at the club.

Now, it would appear as though there are some more uncertainties about his future in Europe. As a result, it’s likely that Forest could be looking to offload him on a more permanent basis in the future.

Scarpa struggling since Forest departure

This information comes from the Greek outlet Sportdog. They’ve been analysing Scarpa and his current form won’t really delight the Forest fan base who might be keen to see how he’s getting on.

They claimed in their latest article: “Typical is the example of Scarpa, which has not been caught in the Port although it has terrible quality. He was a top player in the Brazilian league in 2022, but the mistake was that he went to England and as a result, he lost pace and is now behind.”

Scarpa has made six appearances in all competitions for Olympiacos since joining on loan. Once again, he’s struggling to hold down a place in the team and hasn’t scored or claimed an assist just yet.

Scarpa facing European football fight

When he signed, Scarpa claimed it was a dream to be playing in Europe. However, that dream is quickly becoming a nightmare and he will want to make sure that he gets going in Greece.

Right now, it’s impossible to imagine him not heading back to Brazil in the near future. It would seem highly unlikely that another European club will take him and heading back to his homeland looks realistic.

It’s sad to see that Scarpa is now struggling away from Forest. He’s a likeable character, good in the dressing room and it was hoped that he’d make a real impact with Olympiacos.
