Nottingham Forest v Liverpool – What’s the story?

Forest go into this game without a win in five games. In fairness, they face the improbable challenge of going to Anfield and winning, with Liverpool among the form teams in the Premier League.

Cooper knows he needs to get Forest to produce the goods on a more consistent basis this season. Performances have improved away from home and they’ve collected four points away from the City Ground so far.

Forest gave a good account of themselves at Anfield last season. They went there on a run of several games without a victory and managed to score two goals away from home for the first time all season during a 3-2 defeat.

Performances only count for so much though. Ultimately, it’s points on the board that decide the club’s fate and they won’t want to slip any closer towards the relegation zone.

Today’s challenge won’t be helped by a number of injuries to some key players, including Callum Hudson-Odoi. However, Cooper won’t want that to act as an excuse in any way shape or form and will see it as a case of next man up.

Forest can have some joy against Liverpool today but it will take an outrageous performance. Given the form of the hosts, it’s hard to imagine Forest taking anything today but funnier things have happened in football.
