Nottingham Forest were given a lesson by Liverpool in the Premier League this afternoon and following the 3-0 Anfield defeat we looked at some player ratings.

Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Liverpool

Matt Turner – 4

Without the £10 million American stopper, this might have resembled something akin to a score at the Cricket World Cup. That said, he might have done better with the first goal, parrying a Darwin Nunez shot straight to Diogo Jot and his part in Mohamed Salah’s goal was frankly pathetic.

Willy Boly – 6

What you see is what you get with the Ivorian defender. He does perhaps struggle against pace and that did show against a Liverpool side that was brimming with energy.

Moussa Niakhate – 6

It was great to see the player return to action for the Reds following his red card against Brentford earlier this month. Forest always look more assured with the Senegal international on the pitch.

Murillo – 5

Hard to give the Brazilian any higher considering it was his error that sparked the move that saw Forest conceding the first goal. He did recover a little bit and he does look like a player with lots of ability.

Serge Aurier – 5

A pretty quiet showing from the captain. He was forced to deal with Jota and against Forest, the Portuguese player always seems to have a field day. Aurier will want to get up to full speed quickly to help the Reds as he did last season.

Nicolas Dominguez – 6

Worked tirelessly as ever but this wasn’t his best afternoon it has to be said. The Reds player fluffed his lines in the second half after being teed up handsomely by Morgan Gibbs-White.

Ibrahim Sangare – 4

Lost his runner in the build-up to the second goal and looked out of sorts. In fairness to Sangare, he took a hefty whack to the head early on and perhaps that impacted the £30 million player’s performance.

Orel Mangala – 5

Neat and tidy as ever but his game struggled after picking up a needless booking for a foul on Alexis MacAllister.

Ola Aina – 6

The Reds benefitted from having him back in the team. Forest signed a gem when they got Aina on a free transfer in the summer and thankfully he looks to now be fully fit.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 5

Worked hard as ever but was pretty wasteful in possession, particularly in the first half. Took a hefty whack from Cody Gakpo in the second half and was substituted shortly after.

Anthony Elanga – 7

Probably the Reds’ best player if it came to picking one. Has to work on his end product but he did get into some good positions and kept trying to make things happen for Forest.

Substitutions

Ryan Yates – 6

You always know what you’re going to get from the Forest academy graduate. Worked hard when he was introduced and tried to keep the Reds pressing Liverpool in good areas.

Harry Toffolo – 5

Extremely clumsy up against Salah and although Turner was probably more at fault, he did play a part in the horrendous mistake that allowed the Egyptian to make it 3-0.

Taiwo Awoniyi – 5

Pretty ineffective from the get-go after being introduced. Still, at least he’s now fit and available for selection going forward it would seem.

Andrey Santos – N/A

Neco Williams – N/A
