Stephen Warnock thinks Steve Cooper will be annoyed with Forest star

Stephen Warnock thinks Nottingham Forest defender Murillo will have infuriated Steve Cooper against Liverpool. The centre-back’s error led to the hosts opening the scoring in today’s Anfield clash.

The Brazilian signed for Forest during the summer transfer window from Corinthians. He is proving a useful signing for the Reds but he didn’t cover himself in glory during an eerie moment on Sunday.

Forest trailed 2-0 at the interval against a side who will feel they can challenge for the title this season. The Reds offered very little and it’s hard to see where the next win is coming from.

Murillo in the firing line after Forest flop

This was like an attack against defence training exercise. From the moment Diogo Jota opened the scoring this was nothing more than a precession for the home side.

Warnock was commentating for Optus Sports and he felt Cooper will have been furious with Forest defender Murillo. He said: “He’s a good player, there’s no doubt about that. But what he’s got to learn is when to play and when to pass. Steve Cooper is down there and he’ll be furious with that.”

Murillo is still learning at the Premier League level and ultimately, he will make mistakes whilst he learns his trade at Forest. He will need to learn from this one pretty quickly though and shake it off.

Murillo can still be a solid player for the Reds

At 21-years-old, the club will have to remain patient with the defender. His mistake came when he was trying to dribble beyond Liverpool defenders and allowed Forest to get stung on the counter.

Murillo will undoubtedly learn from this error during defeat for Forest. In the grand scheme of things, plenty of other players did make mistakes too and the Brazilian shouldn’t be criticised too much.

However, Warnock does have a point. The challenge now facing Steve Cooper is to ensure that Murillo learns quickly and identifies the situation when choosing whether to carry the ball out or not.
