Nottingham Forest star set for limbo as wage puts clubs off

Nottingham Forest forward Gustavo Scarpa is very unlikely to sign for Sao Paulo with a number of factors currently in the way. The Brazilian is currently on loan with Olympiacos after leaving in the summer.

The Reds offloaded the 29-year-old after just six months at the City Ground. Scarpa wasn’t really fancied by Steve Cooper and as a result, the club looked to move him on during the transfer window.

Scarpa has been struggling to make an impact in Greece. He’s made seven appearances in all competitions, failing to register a single goal contribution as of yet.

Scarpa won’t be going to Sao Paulo

Forest took the player from Palmeiras on a free transfer. The Reds signed him in January and gave him a wage of £30,000-a-week and that is one factor that is putting Brazilian clubs off the player.

According to respected journalist, Jorge Nicola, Scarpa is also keen to ride things out in Europe. He called it a dream to move to Europe when he signed for Forest and he’s not ready to give things up just yet.

Furthermore, the same video claims that Sao Paulo simply don’t have the resources to match the wage that Scarpa receives at Forest. Subsequently, they’d only be willing to consider a loan deal.

Scarpa facing limbo after Forest exit

Like many of the players who swap Forest for Olympiacos, things aren’t going particularly well for Scarpa in Greece. He’s struggling to hold down a place in the team and he will crave regular football.

Now, he’s in a bit of limbo. Forest gave the player a lengthy contract and they might have to foot his wages if he’s to leave the City Ground on loan once again.

Scarpa tried his hardest during his time at Forest. He made 10 appearances for the Reds and gave his all when called upon but ultimately, the club just didn’t feel he had what it takes in the Premier League.
