Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at the City Ground today and Moussa Niakhate was named as the official Man of the Match.
The defender was starting the game alongside Murillo at the heart of a back four. He was colossal throughout and afterwards Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White reacted.
Niakhate signed for Forest in the summer of 2022. He cost around £10 million and has been excellent when he’s managed to stay fit.
Forest stars rave about Niakhate
The Reds are lucky to have the Senegalese star. He’s been unfortunate with injuries and hopefully, now he can stay fit.
Gibbs-White and Elanga were also in decent form today. The pair played on the flanks and were lively and hardworking throughout.
After the game, the pair praised the Niakhate on Instagram. The 27-year-old was outstanding and was named the Premier League Man of the Match.

Gibbs-White didn’t need any words to sum up the performance of Forest defender Niakhate. He merely placed the brick wall emoji alongside a love heart.
Elanga did need a couple of words but his short message in French translated to ‘Oh, yes’.
Niakhate earns praise from teammates
Forest dearly need Niakhate to stay fit. Willy Boly has deputised well this season and he will have a part to play too but the international is a different class on his day.
The dressing room harmony at Forest looks relatively strong. Steve Cooper is so lucky to have some incredibly talented players in his squad and Niakhate is one of them.
One scary aspect of Niakhate is that he’s still got a bit of time on his side. He’s only 27 and as a central defender he should have his best years ahead of him and long may this form continue.
