Jermaine Pennant has been left stunned by something that happened during Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa yesterday. The Reds won 2-0 against Unai Emery’s in-form team.

Forest performed brilliantly to arrest their run of six games without a win, stretching back to September. Goals from Ola Aina and Orel Mangala ensured a big three points for the Reds.

Pennant was clearly watching the Forest game yesterday. The Nottingham-born pundit spent time with Arsenal, Liverpool and Birmingham during his career and he wasn’t impressed yesterday.

Pennant left stunned by decision in Forest game

Forest did manage to get the win yesterday but boy was there plenty of drama. The Reds were flagged offside no fewer than nine times during the clash and one decision left Pennant incensed.

He took to Instagram to post on his story one particular decision. Nicolas Dominguez was played through and after playing the ball to Taiwo Awoniyi, the striker was bundled over.

However, the assistant referee went back to an earlier offside, with the VAR team drawing the infamous lines during their check.

Pennant wasn’t happy with how the lines were drawn. On Instagram, he posted: “What five-year-old drew those lines? PGMOL…Absolute shambles.”

Pennant has a point after Premier League debacle

It’s fair to say that it wasn’t a great day for the match officials at the City Ground yesterday. Although Jarred Gillett had a decent game, it was a poor afternoon for both assistants and VAR.

Forest didn’t end up with the decisions costing them yesterday. However, there have been times in the past when it has and things have to improve with the PGMOL.

Pennant didn’t play in the VAR era but he wasn’t happy with the call involving Forest yesterday. Thankfully, the Reds held on for three points given a disastrous afternoon for the assistant referees.
