Nottingham Forest star Ola Aina has been praised by Glenn Murray and Dion Dublin on Match of the Day 2. The 27-year-old struck early doors to score his first goal for the club against Aston Villa.

Aina got on the end of a pass from Forest left-back Harry Toffolo to bag his first goal for the club. The Reds ran out 2-0 winners, with Orel Mangala also scoring his maiden for the campaign.

Seeing the defender score his first goal for the club was a proud moment for him. He’s been a decent addition to the ranks since checking in from Torino during the summer.

Aina praised by two pundits on Match of the Day 2

Murray finished his career with Forest, even if supporters never did see him in action. He finished the 2020/21 campaign at Forest when football was being played behind closed doors.

He was impressed with the finish from Aina that opened the scoring for Forest. So too was Dublin and he’s claimed that it was not something that he ever managed to do as a player.

Murray kicked things off on Match of the Day 2 by saying: “Sometimes when you come on to a shot like that the temptation can be to leather the ball with your laces. But, it’s a side foot, it’s controlled and it’s a fantastic finish, it really is.”

Dublin added: “It’s hard to finish like that, that low from so far out. I’ve never done that, it’s hard!

Aina proving a very useful Forest signing

Amid a glut of signings that Forest forked out for, it’s Aina as a freebie that is catching the eye. When the player has missed some games through injury the team has missed him and hopefully, he can now stay fit.

At 27, he has some time on his side. Furthermore, the fact he can play in a number of positions makes him an extremely useful player to have in the squad at this level.

The joy on the face of Aina was there for all to see after he scored for Forest yesterday. Now, he will be hoping he can add a few more as the season progresses.
