Darren Fletcher has raved about Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare after yesterday’s win over Aston Villa. The Reds won 2-0 at the City Ground to go up to 12th in the Premier League.

Goals from Ola Aina and Orel Mangala ensured a big three points for Forest. The performance was a good one and Steve Cooper deserves lots of plaudits for his game plan.

Sangare was a summer signing for Forest from PSV. He cost the club £30 million and the deal was announced shortly after the transfer window had actually slammed shut.

Sangare praised for Forest performance

Fletcher is the lead commentator on TNT Sports. Fresh from rubbing shoulders with Eminem at the Tyson Fury fight last weekend, he watched on as Forest beat Aston Villa yesterday.

Earlier today, he sat down with The Garibaldi Red Podcast and Sangare was one player who came in for some praise from the Forest-supporting commentator.

He said on the podcast: “I thought Sangare was really dominant in central midfield. I think that’s probably as good as I’ve seen him in a Forest shirt to this point. He looked very, very in control of the whole situation.

Sangare will improve with more game time

The 25-year-old is going to take some time to get up to speed in the Premier League. However, the club have invested a lot of money in him and dropping him from the team isn’t the answer.

Sangare hasn’t set the league alight just yet but there have been flashes of what he can bring to the Forest team. He typically played as a number six at PSV but Cooper has given him a box-to-box responsibility at Forest.

With that in mind, he will take some time to get up to speed at the club. Fletcher is quite right, however, when he says that he was in fine form yesterday and hopefully Sangare can truly showcase his quality now.
