Nottingham Forest legend and former manager Martin O’Neill has spoken about Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis after his sacking in 2019.
The now 71-year-old was in charge of the Reds for 19 games back in 2019 but was sacked at the end of the 2018/19 season.
O’Neill replaced Aitor Karanka after a poor run of fixtures, but his negative playstyle led to questions from the fanbase.
However, it is safe to say the former Aston Villa man still disagrees with the owner’s decision to fire him four years ago.

Martin O’Neill on his Forest sacking
Speaking on TalkSPORT with Simon Jordan and Jim White, O’Neill opened up about his dismissal.
“Well you know this idea about something being close to your heart and the next thing you know you’re being bombed out after 19 games.

“I had ten wonderful years at the football club – with five years being the best you can imagine as a footballer that has gone a long long time ago.
“They’ve had about 15 managers or so [since he was sacked].
“We all get over things at one stage or another, but it’s a completely natural reaction. In 19 games, I had a 40% win rate.”
Forest progression in four years is remarkable
Under O’Neill, the Reds had a decent Championship, however, the transformation since then has been nothing short of remarkable.
The club has gone on to exceed all possible expectations after winning promotion, creating a squad capable of challenging for the top half in the Premier League.
Steve Cooper has had a massive part to play in that progression, with the current Reds boss bringing the club forwards on and off the pitch.
