Alan Shearer has praised Nottingham Forest star Ola Aina after his performance against Aston Villa. The Reds ran out 2-0 winners on Sunday, with Aina getting his first Forest goal.
It proved a great win at the weekend for the Reds. Forest raced into a one-goal lead in the early exchanges and shortly after half-time, Orel Mangala stretched the advantage.
Aina has proved a very decent addition to the Forest ranks this season. He signed for the club on a free transfer after leaving Torino at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Shearer raves about Aina after Forest performance
It’s always nice to see Forest get recognition after a sound performance and Aina has made the Premier League Team of the Week. Shearer was highly impressed with the Nigeria international and felt he did well.

The pundit told the Premier League: “He displayed great technique to score against Emiliano Martinez from that range, and defended well to keep a clean sheet.”
Aina has been in fine form for the Reds when he’s managed to remain fit this season. He’s started seven games for the Reds and stepped off the bench in another one as he settles at his new club.
Defender proves that Forest can be shrewd in the market
Some supporters like to mock Forest over their transfer policy. In recent seasons money has been wasted on some players but by brining Aina to Forest, the club has shown that they can be savvy.
Aina was also being courted by Leeds when Forest wanted him. On the face of things, a move to the Championship perhaps looks more likely but on a free transfer, Forest weren’t willing to miss out on the 27-year-old.
The results have been emphatic and Aina looks like the sort of player that Forest have paid millions for. He worked tirelessly hard against Villa on Sunday and hopefully, there is even more to come from the player.
