Sky Sports commentator Seb Hutchinson was really impressed by Odysseas Vlachodimos on his first start for Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Greek international kept a clean sheet as he helped Steve Cooper’s side pick up their first home win in three months.
Vlachodimos was brought in to replace Matt Turner who had played every minute for the Reds since his summer arrival from Arsenal.
However, after multiple mistakes, Cooper opted to give Vlachodimos his debut against Unai Emery’s side, a decision that Hutchinson agreed with.
Seb Hutchinson on Forest’s goalkeeping situation
Speaking on the Garibaldi Red Podcast this week, the Sky Sports commentator said: “To me, [Odysseas] Vlachodimos seems like more of a number one than [Matt] Turner at this point in time.

“It’s always going to be difficult for a goalkeeper’s first game because of the nerves, he didn’t get too many touches of the ball in the first half, but he was busy enough and he was decent.
“I feel for Turner a bit because goalkeepers always make mistakes, but in recent weeks it got to a point where the manager had to do something about it.
“With a goalkeeper with the experience of Vlachodimos, [Steve] Cooper had to give him a chance but it will be interesting to see if he sticks with him going forward now.”
Vlachodimos’ position to lose after Villa display
Although he didn’t have too many saves to make, the 29-year-old was solid when called upon – most notably early in the second half from an Ollie Watkins near-post strike.
The Greek international displayed his brilliant distribution, looking much more comfortable with the ball at his feet than Turner.
It is safe to say, after Sunday’s performance the number one spot is Vlachodimos’ to lose. Hopefully, he can produce another solid display against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
