Chelsea could recall Andrey Santos from his loan at Nottingham Forest in January. The Reds took the Brazil Under-23 captain on loan from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.

Furthermore, some news has emerged about the loan deal that Forest have done for Santos. The player has made just one fleeting appearance in the Premier League, playing the final seven minutes against Liverpool last month.

The talented youngster had a number of offers in the summer. Chelsea were willing to let him go to Forest though and they’re now unhappy with how things are going for Santos.

Details over Santos to Forest emerge

According to The Mirror, Forest allowed a deal to be included which means the club pay Chelsea a penalty fee every time that Santos doesn’t play when he’s fit.

The Blues will be unhappy that the player isn’t featuring for Forest but they must be buzzing that they’re getting their coffers topped up from the Reds by them not playing Santos.

It does seem like a strange deal for Forest to include. As a result, perhaps the club initially anticipated that Santos would be featuring more for the Reds this season.

Forest at a crossroads over big talent

In the interest of all parties, it looks likely that Santos will return to Chelsea in January. The Reds aren’t using him and letting him go back would free up a domestic loan space.

Santos is a quality player but he’s not been able to showcase anything at Forest yet. He was pretty sound in the Carabao Cup outing he made but it was hard for him to do much in the seven minutes he played at Liverpool.

Forest will have a little tweak rather than a major overhaul in January. That could see Santos depart the club and in terms of his game time, it would be the best option for the player.
