Nottingham Forest are one of several clubs in the mix to try and sign Lewis Ferguson when the January transfer window opens. The Scotland international could be on the move when the window reopens, with Forest, Juventus and Fulham all keen.
Ferguson moved to Bologna from Aberdeen in the summer of 2022. He’s become a regular in the team for the Serie A outfit and he’s made 45 appearances for the club.
This season has been a particularly good one for the talented midfielder. He’s scored three goals and claimed four assists, with the player starring alongside Remo Freuler who is on loan from Forest.
Forest want Ferguson when January window opens
This report comes from a reputable journalist who believes that Forest are in the mix to sign Ferguson. The Reds face stiff competition though and Juventus will provide an attractive proposition.
Ferguson is an extremely talented midfield player. He’s only 24-years-old and he still has a lot of untapped potential for any club that might take a chance and sign him.
The man with six caps for Scotland was an exceptionally gifted player during his time at Aberdeen. He made 169 appearances and scored 69 goals for the Dons.
Another midfielder would seem a strange signing for Forest
This would be a bit of a bizarre one. Forest have a settled midfield three at the moment with Orel Mangala, Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare all playing really well.
In reserve, the Reds have Ryan Yates, Andrey Santos and Cheikhou Kouyate all waiting in the wings for a chance should the opportunity arise.
Still, Ferguson is a quality player and he does still have some time on his side to improve. Jim Goodwin was his manager at Aberdeen and he called him ‘fantastic’ when he managed him in Scotland.
Forest will continue to look for bargain players. If Ferguson is available for a decent price he could prove a pretty useful addition to the squad as a 24-year-old.
