Nottingham Forest loanee Josh Bowler caught the eye on Saturday, despite Cardiff City losing to Norwich. The EFL outfit threw away a lead to hand victory to the Canaries during a pulsating encounter.
Bowler moved to Wales in the summer in search of first-team football having never made an appearance for Forest. He chose Cardiff amid interest from a host of clubs in the EFL.
Forest youngster Bowler is now proving a hit with the locals at Cardiff. He’s really starting to shine as a regular starter after picking up a minor injury shortly after the season had begun.
Bowler stars in Cardiff defeat
The talented Forest winger is tricky when he gets going and Bowler tormented the Norwich defenders at the weekend. The 24-year-old scored Cardiff’s first goal during this five-goal thriller and he won praise from the national media.
Wales Online said of his performance: “Star man. Was the standout. Looked so dangerous running at Przemyslaw Placheta and caused him all sorts of trouble. Let off a number of dangerous shots and drilled home his first-half chance.”

Forest-owned Bowler will be spending the season on loan at Cardiff. It’s unlikely at this stage that the Reds will ever see him on the pitch in a competitive game and his signing does feel like a strange one.
Bowler signed by Forest as insurance
Had Forest been relegated last season, the winger would likely now be playing for the Reds. It seems pretty clear that he was added as a young player and one who could make an impact should the club get relegated.
Now, Forest are still in the Premier League and ultimately Bowler found himself way down the pecking order. However, he did head to Spain for the pre-season training camp with the Reds before going out on loan.
All the player can do is keep his head down and continue playing well for Cardiff. What happens in the future will then take care of itself and it’s fair to say that Forest will have enjoyed the performance of Bowler at the weekend.
