Michael Chopra has been discussing Nottingham Forest and the work that has been done by Steve Cooper. The Reds are 15th in the Premier League as they continue trying to establish themselves as a top-flight club.

Cooper could literally walk on water when it comes to the work he’s done at Forest. The club were at the bottom of the Championship when he took over and within a matter of months, he’d led them to promotion.

Last season, Cooper oversaw some good end-of-season form to lead Forest to Premier League survival. This time around the Reds have won just three games so far this season but once again the head coach has a lot of new players to bed in.

Chopra praises Forest head coach Cooper

The man who spent a short time on loan at Forest during his playing career in 2004 knows Cooper well. He’s suggested that he’s rooting for Forest again this season and thinks the head coach deserves praise.

He told Tribal Football: “I am a close friend with Cooper and we speak often. Despite all the difficulties and stuff he is doing a fantastic job and has got the team playing very well.”

It’s an interesting relationship between Chopra and Cooper and it’s not certain how they know each other. Still, this is another old player who doesn’t have a bad word to say about the Forest head coach.

Cooper facing biggest challenge yet

Last season was always likely to be a free hit for Cooper. This season, however, Forest have arguably their best squad for 20 years and with that comes a raised level of expectation.

Recently, Nick Miller from The Athletic tipped Cooper to be the first manager to be sacked in the Premier League. That does feel a bit shortsighted but he does have to get the team firing.

Cooper has the respect of just about everyone at Forest. He always speaks about how he doesn’t want to let anyone down and he will hope that the Reds can kick on this season.
