Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna has emerged as a target for Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The defender hasn’t featured for the Reds of late and will be out of contract in the summer.
McKenna started the campaign as a regular starter in Steve Cooper’s team. He played 90 minutes in four of the first five games of 2023/24 but hasn’t been included in the squad since September.
The central defender was absolutely colossal as Forest won promotion to the Premier League during 2021/22. He won Man of the Match in the Play-Off Final against Huddersfield and was also named Player of the Year.
McKenna wanted by Fenerbahce
It’s a little bit sad how things look set to end with McKenna at Forest. However, it would seem that it’s not the fault of the club, with some claims suggesting there has been a dispute over a new contract.

Now, according to Haber 7, McKenna is wanted by Fenerbahce who are planning to open negotiations to sign him very soon. The club could try and pay a fee to land him in January or arrange a pre-contract agreement to take him for free in the summer.
McKenna has been shunted down the pecking order amid a glut of new signings. Murillo has come in and taken the dressing room by storm, whilst Andrew Omobamidele was also signed in the summer.
Forest must try and get a fee for McKenna
The 27-year-old has made 105 appearances for the Reds. McKenna has been an exceptional servant for Forest and it would be a complete travesty to see him leave the club for free next summer.
With a club from overseas now interested, however, Forest might have to get used to the idea of not recouping a fee for his services. Should they choose to do so, Fenerbahce could agree a deal with McKenna and then land him for free next summer when he leaves Forest.
Other clubs will surely be coming forward to try and sign McKenna from Forest over the next six weeks or so. The challenge from a Forest perspective is to now ensure they get a fair price for the defender.
