Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa has agreed to join Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro on a permanent basis.
The 29-year-old joined Steve Cooper’s side on a free from Palmeiras last January, with the Brazilian failing to nail down a consistent first-team place.
He was subsequently loaned to Olympiacos in the summer, with Scarpa suffering the same fate in Greece, with just two starts since August.
He’s been subject to interest from multiple clubs across the globe in recent months, but the latest update from Brazil could see his future resolved.

Brazilian journalist claims Scarpa agrees move away from Forest
According to Brazilian journalist Bira Marinho, the 29-year-old has agreed a move to join Atletico Mineiro back in his homeland.

The Reds are said to be open to selling the Brazilian after he failed to make a real impact in the Premier League under Cooper.
However, Scarpa signed a deal until 2026, meaning any permanent deal between the two clubs would result in a transfer fee.
It seems as though talks have progressed to the point where the player has agreed terms with the Brazilian side, with just a fee to be agreed before the deal is complete.
Scarpa struggled to adapt in Europe
Scarpa hasn’t made the impact he or Olympiacos would’ve hoped for, with the Brazilian’s loan potentially being cut short during January.
It would seem highly unlikely that another European club would take him and heading back to his homeland looking evermore likely.
It’s sad to see that Scarpa is now struggling. He came to the club with real promise, but unfortunately for him, it just hasn’t worked out in Europe with the midfielder now expected to return to Brazil.
