Nottingham Forest talent Jack Thompson has been training with the senior squad of late. The player has posted a couple of pictures on his Instagram and he’s had a call-up of late.

Steve Cooper is renowned for ensuring the club’s younger players have a clear pathway to the first team. Now, it looks as though Thompson has been given a taste of training with the Reds.

The talented player has experience playing against men this season. He played the full 90 minutes at centre-back as Forest defeated Carlisle United 2-0 in the EFL Trophy.

Thompson suggests he’s trained with the first team

The 18-year-old has taken to Instagram recently to share two images of him training with the senior squad on Instagram. In one of the snaps, he’s seen taking aim with Morgan Gibbs-White and Andrew Omobamidele in the background.

Thompson operates as a central defender and he’s currently with the B-Team on a regular basis. He’s only made three appearances this season though having suffered with an injury.

It would appear that Cooper has seen something in him, however. He’s one of several players to have been given a call-up and he will likely be training with the team whilst a number of players feature on the international stage over the next couple of weeks.

Thompson set for bright future with Forest

The player is clearly rated highly by people behind the scenes at the City Ground. Thompson has already signed a professional contract with the club and he will hope to kick on.

One thing that Forest can be proud of is their academy. With Cooper in charge of the first team, it’s hard to imagine that side of the football club becoming neglected any time soon.

Thompson looks like a really useful player in the Forest youth ranks. He’s growing with each appearance and he will hope to get more minutes with the B-Team after his training with the first team.
