Nottingham Forest star Murillo has been named in a Team of the Season compiled by Who Scored. The defender has been named in a team made of the eleven best news signings so far.

Murillo has been a revelation since signing for Forest from Corinthians. He’s quickly got himself into the team and Jamie Redknapp has already called him an ‘absolute bargain’ on Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old is getting better with each passing appearance and he looks like a player capable of going a long way. On Sunday at West Ham, he came off injured and that is a small cause for concern.

During the game against West Ham, Forest head coach Steve Cooper felt that Murillo was defending set pieces brilliantly. That does seem to be one big strength of his given his physical nature.

Forest gem Murillo makes Who Scored selection

It’s great to see Murillo make this selection and also quite a remarkable feat for the Forest man. He’s made just six appearances for the club and has been given a 7.00 rating for his efforts across that period by Who Scored.

The player is in fine form right now and hopefully, he can come back after the international break. The fact that he went off with what looked like a hamstring problem against West Ham is of concern, however.

Murillo has struck up a decent partnership with Forest star Moussa Niakhate. Although both players are left-footed, it looks like a well-balanced partnership and they seem to complement each other.

The local media have also been impressed with Murillo. Nottinghamshire Live called him ‘quality’ following his efforts against Crystal Palace last month.

Murillo now has challenge to keep place

The easiest thing for a manager is to choose when to give a young player a chance in the team. The hardest aspect is knowing when to take them out for a breather.

That decision might be an easy one for Cooper depending on how serious his injury is. Murillo won’t want to relinquish his place in the Forest team now though, with other players waiting in the wings.

It’s quite something that amid a plethora of quality signings this summer, it’s the unknown quantity who is shining. Murillo has been a revelation at Forest and long may it continue.
