Nottingham Forest are still firmly in the mix to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy in January. The talisman has a release clause of around £15 million and it’s claimed that the Reds can easily afford him.

Forest won’t be alone in their desire to sign Guirassy. Fulham and Tottenham are also linked with a transfer and Stuttgart look to be fighting a losing battle when it comes to keeping him.

Forest-linked Guirassy has been a player in scintillating form during the 2023/24 campaign. He’s fired 16 goals in just 10 games and he’s currently being considered as a hot property across Europe.

Forest in the mix to sign Guirassy

The Reds were first linked with the player during the summer transfer window. It was claimed, however, that the striker was keen to stay put and the interest was never followed up.

Now, according to Bild, it’s not completely unrealistic that the player moves on from the Bundesliga outfit this summer. Forest might be in the market for another striker, with Taiwo Awoniyi now seemingly injured again.

The Guinea international is a proven Bundesliga player and crucially, he’s a player who is currently flying. Forest look to be in the market for another forward player and this latest report should give them hope over Guirassy.

Guirassy would be quality signing

At 27-years-old, Guirassy is approaching his prime. With that in mind, this is a signing that makes a lot of sense from a Forest perspective with the next few years in mind.

Getting Guirassy and Awoniyi in the same team could prove a tricky one for Forest head coach Steve Cooper. However, with Chris Wood and Divock Origi the only other two strikers in the squad, another one could be required.

At £15 million signing Guirassy looks like a bit of a no-brainer from a Forest perspective. Fulham and Tottenham will provide attractive propositions but the Reds will still fancy their chances and it’s interesting that it looks like money will be spent again.
