Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams starred for Wales last night in the 1-1 draw against Turkey at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The 22-year-old played at left-back for his nation and fired home in the first half, giving them hope of automatic qualification for EURO 2024.

However, Yusuf Yazici’s second-half penalty ended Wales’ faint hopes of gaining automatic qualification, forcing them into the play-offs.

Despite the draw, Williams played brilliantly for Rob Page’s side – a very common theme for the former Liverpool defender.

Scored a superb opener and was a threat going forward for most of the night. Didn’t shy away from a challenge defensively either. A really good showing. Subbed.

Whenever he plays for Wales, Williams seems to produce another level of performance – something which we rarely see from him in a Forest shirt.

Does Williams deserve more Forest game time?

After his performance for Wales, Williams certainly has showcased that he deserves to be a part of the Forest first-team setup.

However, the form of players ahead of him such as Harry Toffolo and Ola Aina have seen Williams be on the bench or not even included in the matchday squad in recent weeks.

There were rumours about his future at the club, however, with the Welshman only being 22, he still has a bright future ahead of him, hopefully that can be at the City Ground.
