Paul Merson has delivered his match prediction for Saturday’s game between Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion. The Reds will look to build on their last home game that saw them claim a big win over Aston Villa.

Forest know that their home form will prove integral this season, just as it did during 2022/23. The Reds have won three matches so far during 2023/24 and they will hope that number becomes four on Saturday.

Steve Cooper has been dealt a devastating blow in the build-up to this one. The news has been announced today that Taiwo Awoniyi needs surgery and will be missing for around three months.

Merson delivers Nottingham Forest v Brighton fixture

Ahead of this one, Merson has delivered his weekly predictions on the Premier League matches. He actually believes the Reds will get a big three points at the City Ground this weekend.

He told Sportskeeda: “I’m actually going to go with Nottingham Forest here and it’s only because of the sheer unpredictability of Brighton. I can’t exactly rely on Brighton given their form of late. Forest have got to win their home games and they should be up for the challenge.”

Merson believes the game will finish 2-1 with Forest claiming a big win. Last season, the Reds overcame the Seagulls 3-1 to bolster their chances of survival.

Forest will have tough task to beat Brighton

This division is relentless and Forest will have to be at their best to win this one. Although Brighton haven’t won for two months in the Premier League, they will fancy transforming their fortunes here.

The Seagulls do have some injury concerns to contend with. But then so do Forest with Awoniyi’s absence set to be a difficult one for Forest to deal with.

It’s rare that Merson backs Fores to claim all three points. He’s done just that this weekend though and hopefully, the Premier League table can look a lot healthier on Saturday night.
