Nottingham Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele has suggested he’s frustrated at a lack of game time. The Reds centre-back played for the Republic of Ireland against New Zealand earlier this week.

Forest chose to land Omobamidele on transfer deadline day. As of yet, he’s not featured in a matchday squad that Steve Cooper has picked since the player moved from Norwich for £11 million.

Omobamidele made 55 appearances for the Canaries during his time at the club. He’s made two substitute appearances in the Championship before heading to the City Ground and now he’s craving regular football.

Omobamidele desperate for Forest chance

Speaking after a 1-1 draw for the Republic of Ireland against New Zealand, Forest defender Omobamidele claims that he’s now ready to be playing Premier League games.

He told the Irish Independent: “I’m fighting every day. I don’t want to be complacent or feel comfortable. I want to test myself and I’m being tested at the moment.

“I feel it’s not good. It’s easy to go on about your time is coming. But I don’t think patience is a good trait in football to have, personally. I feel like you always need to want to play. You should be thinking about yourself, about being better or playing in this position.

“I want to play and establish myself in the Premier League and international football. Like I said, once my chance comes, I’ll be ready to take it.”

Chance could come soon for Omobamidele

Murillo picked up an injury problem against West Ham. It’s not clear at this stage how serious that is and perhaps there will be an opening for Omobamidele in the Forest team soon.

Things could still be tough at Forest for Omobamidele, however. The Reds have Willy Boly, Felipe and Joe Worrall all trying desperately to get back into the reckoning at the moment.

Forest clearly signed Omobamidele with a plan in mind, however. Perhaps Steve Cooper will be quizzed on the youngster in the coming weeks and it will be fascinating to see when the summer recruit will be called upon.
