Six Nottingham Forest stars most at risk of being sin-binned include one of this season’s unsung heroes and Steve Cooper could be seriously worried.
Football is about to change significantly. In recent years, VAR has left it unrecognisable and in the Premier League, it’s bordering on a different sport these days.
Forest have benefitted from some VAR calls since their return to the top flight, but they’ve also been on the wrong end of some stinkers.
Next season, things could change once again.
That’s because sin bins are going to be trailed in professional football as part of some new IFAB proposals.
Plenty for Cooper to think about as IFAB make suggestions
If these changes come into the Premier League, it will give Steve Cooper plenty to think about at Forest, should he remain in the job next season.
A proposed trial where only the team captain can approach the referee in certain situations was given the green light on Tuesday.
It was also agreed that sin bins for dissent and specific tactical offences should be trialled at higher levels following a successful implementation in grassroots football.
Which Forest players will be at risk of sin bin?
So what could this mean for certain Forest players?
Forest have four players currently inside the Premier League’s top 100 when it comes to fouls committed.

These players would likely be most ar risk of being sin-binned under the new plans thought to be on the way to the Premier League next season.
The Forest player who commits the most fouls is this season’s unsung hero – Orel Mangala.
Last season, the player suffered a bit of an identity crisis, with fans not really sure what type of midfielder he was.
This season he’s settled and proved his worth. That said, he has made 15 fouls in the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign.
In perhaps less surprising news next on the list for Forest are Ibrahim Sangare and Ryan Yates.
Both players like to get stuck in and they’ve both given away 14 fouls this season.
Willy Boly is next on the list and is the last Forest player to sit inside the top 100 in the Premier League.
He’s committed 12 fouls, with Ola Aina currently outside the top 100 on nine fouls.
Losing players like Mangala and Sangare for 10 minutes each time could have a major impact on the Forest team.
It will give Cooper – along with every other Premier League manager plenty to think about ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
