Nottingham Forest tried to sign defender Federico Gatti from Juventus during the summer transfer window.
The Reds made an offer of around £22 million for the player as they sought to bolster their rearguard.
Gatti was wanted for transfer by Forest but Juventus refused the offer and chose to keep him instead.
The player moved to the Old Lady from Frosinone in 2022 but retuned to the club on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.
Gatti wanted by Forest
It’s unlikely that Forest will move for Gatti in January with the centre-back now considered part of the Juventus squad.
According to Tuttosport, the player was a firm target of Forest but Massimiliano Allegri blocked the exit.
During the 2023/24 campaign, he’s made 12 appearances for Juventus and helped himself to two goals.

Gatti has made 39 appearances for Juventus in total and surely, he will be keen to establish himself at the club.
Forest might have been able to sign the player had he not performed so well during a pre-season tour of the US.
It was there where Allegri decided to keep him following some fine performances.
Forest well-stocked at centre-back
The Reds landed Murillo during the summer transfer window, whilst Andrew Omobamidele was also added to the Forest ranks.
Felipe, Moussa Nikhate and Willy Boly have played big roles this season, with Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna also at the club.
Gatti now looks to be a part of the team at Juventus and it’s unlikely he will be leaving in January.
Forest may well try and sign a new defender, although they have more pressing concerns to address in attack.
Nino has been heavily linked with the club, although things have gone quiet a little bit of late.
Omobamidele hasn’t made his debut yet and perhaps he will be the next cab off the rank defensively.
Either way, Gatti now looks an unlikely signing for Forest and this might be one that got away.
