Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce has reacted to something Steve Cooper did after tonight’s 5-0 defeat to Fulham.

The Reds were comprehensively beaten with Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez scoring twice and Tom Cairney scoring late on.

Pearce cut a disconsolate figure during the live Amazon Prime coverage and Cooper looked shellshocked at the end.

This was a performance that said a lot about some of the Forest players and they might be left fighting for their place in the future.

Pearce reacts after Forest get battered

Pearce was providing analysis for Amazon Prime during tonight’s game and he couldn’t believe what he saw at the end.

With the camera panning on Forest head coach Cooper, naturally, the pundits began discussing the head coach and his future.

Pearce couldn’t believe what he was watching as Cooper gathered his staff and all of the players together to go and applaud the supporters.

He said live on air: “Extraordinary scenes here to be fair. All of the staff, all of the players have gone over and none of the fans have left the stadium. All I can see is that is an apology, this will hurt the manager, they didn’t try a leg to be fair.”

Time surely up for Cooper at Forest

It shouldn’t have come to this. Forest looked to have improved earlier in the season, with the performances somewhat better than 2022/23.

Pearce sounded really downbeat throughout his segment. It seems clear that he still feels the pain as though he’s a supporter of the club when a result like tonight occurs.

For Cooper, he will be disgusted with this showing. His players have let him down badly and he deserves better than what was served up at Craven Cottage.

Although Cooper hasn’t been faultless in recent weeks, Forest wouldn’t be where they are today without the 43-year-old and he deserves more from his players.

Tomorrow could signal the end of his tenure in charge of the club. If that is the case, he should leave with his head held high and with the gratitude of the Forest supporters.
