Nottingham Forest will now face competition from Juventus to complete the signing of Lewis Ferguson.

The Reds are keen to bring the man who paired up in central midfield with Nicolas Dominguez last season to the City Ground.

Ferguson moved to Bologna from Aberdeen in 2022 and his performances have been catching the eye for some time.

The Old Lady are showing an interest in bringing Ferguson to the club, with Fulham and Forest also keen on Ferguson.

According to Tuttosport, the player could be on the move in January when the transfer window reopens.

Ferguson has come to life in Serie A this season, scoring three goals and claiming three assists from 14 appearances.

That level of form has seen Forest show an interest and last season he made 26 appearances alongside Dominguez at Bologna.

Dominguez left the Serie A side to sign for Forest in the summer and Ferguson has now taken centre stage with the Italian outfit.

Ferguson would be useful but a midfielder isn’t Forest priority

At 24-years-old, the player would fit the ethos of a Forest signing nicely – but do the Reds need him?

With Dominguez signing for the club for £8 million and Ibrahim Sangare also signed last summer, Forest are well-stocked in midfield.

Orel Mangala has been in fine form, with Ryan Yates and Danilo also still in place at the club to provide competition for places.

Forest-linked Ferguson is a decent player and he’s now starting to earn recognition with the Scotland national team.

Ferguson is fancied by Juventus and that clearly indicates the type of season that he’s having at Bologna.

However, Forest have other areas that need strengthening during the summer and for now, Ferguson might have to wait.
