Keylor Navas helped Nottingham Forest stay in the Premier League last season and now he could join Newcastle. The goalkeeper is currently back at PSG but he’s firmly out of the fold with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The experienced stopper was a brilliant addition to the Forest ranks during the second half of 2022/23. He made 17 appearances for the Reds and managed to keep two clean sheets as Premier League survival was secured.
Navas is vastly experienced and has won the Champions League on three occasions. He’s also won Ligue 1 twice and been part of a title-winning team in Spain.
Forest did unbelievably well to get Navas to the City Ground. The club had to act quickly after it was announced that Dean Henderson would be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Newcastle in for Navas
The 34-year-old player could now find himself on the shortlist at Newcastle. They’re in limbo after Nick Pope was ruled out for several months with a dislocated shoulder.
Newcastle will go in search of a new goalkeeper in January and Navas is on their radar after his loan spell with Forest during the 2022/23 campaign, according to The Mirror.

Navas is likely to jump at the chance to return to the Premier League. He is currently nursing a bit of an injury but is set to be fit to play soon.
Signing Navas is never an easy thing to do. Newcastle should be aware that the Costa Rica international earns around £200,000-a-week at PSG and they will want a large percentage of that paying.
Forest right not to sign Navas permanently
It’s fair to say that Navas probably would have been an improvement on the two current stoppers at Forest. Both Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos have endured eerie moments this season.
However, given his age and his wage packet, Forest simply couldn’t justify Navas. His arrival would have represented another short-term fix and that wouldn’t have gone down well.
Navas will always be remembered for what he achieved at Forest. He was instrumental during the run-in as the Reds secured survival in the Premier League.
