Steve Hodge has slammed Matt Turner for his error as Nottingham Forest were beaten by Tottenham on Friday night. The Reds lost 2-0, with Turner at fault for at least one of the goals.
Turner won his place back in the Forest team last weekend at Wolves and he was called upon again on Friday. It wasn’t the player’s best performance and he will want to quickly move on.
Turner signed for Forest during the summer transfer window. He cost the club around £10 million from Arsenal where he had been the second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale.
Hodge criticises Turner after Forest howler
The man who played for Forest in the eighties and nineties speaks so well when it comes to discussing the club’s fortunes. He’s a popular figure on BBC Radio Nottingham and he wasn’t happy after Friday.
Forest lost 2-0 with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski scoring the goals. It was the second goal scored by Kulusevski that saw Turner come under fire from Forest supporters and Hodge wasn’t impressed.

He said on BBC Radio Nottingham: “The ball’s gone straight through the keeper’s hands. It’s a poor error, a poor kick out and poor handling. That’s what you get at this level.”
Turner now faces anxious wait
The Reds simply cannot keep losing games of football. They’re sleepwalking towards the relegation zone and a win is desperately needed from somewhere in the near future.
Forest have to try and win sooner rather than later – starting with Saturday’s game against Bournemouth. Now, Forest head coach Cooper must decide whether or not to stick with Turner or recall Odysseas Vlachodimos.
Ever since he signed Turner has possessed poor kicking skills in a Forest shirt and at this level it’s simply not good enough. The second goal was a comedy of errors and on this occasion, Hodge was right to slam him.
