Gustavo Scarpa has given positive signs to Flamengo that he’s now ready to quit Nottingham Forest and head back to Brazil. The player only signed for the Reds in January but now he’s ready to head back to his homeland.
Scarpa made just 10 appearances for Forest as they secured Premier League survival last season. He did struggle with injuries and also had some personal issues to contend with.
Ultimately, he never truly convinced Steve Cooper that he was capable of starting games in the Premier League. As a result, Forest chose to move him on in the summer and he joined Olympiacos on loan.
Scarpa gives positive signs to interested club
According to CNN, Forest attacker Scarpa has now given positive signs to Flamengo ahead of the January transfer window. The club are keen to sign him next month and have sounded out the Forest player.
The feedback from Scarpa and his representatives has been so positive that they’re going to continue trying to sign him. Forest would have no issues with Scarpa leaving and would love to get his £30,000-a-week wages off their wage bill.

Forest will need to continue streamlining their squad when the January transfer window opens. The squad is already on the bloated side and letting Scarpa depart does make a lot of sense.
Scarpa would be wise to depart Forest
There is no shame for Scarpa in coming to England and things not really working out. He’s just never got going at Forest and a number of factors have contributed against him.
The 29-year-old still has lots of time to play regular football. With that in mind, he must seriously be considering a return to Brazil with his chances limited at Olympiacos recently.
Scarpa is a talented player and on his day he can be a real menace for someone. He won the Golden Ball with Palmeiras and moving back to Brazil from Forest could be ideal for the attacker.
